Shire Quines End Season on a High

Match Report for Kelso Women VS Aberdeenshire Quines

🎉 Kelso Ladies Rugby Club 29 - 44 Aberdeenshire Quines 🎉

After welcoming Kelso Ladies for the first time to Woodside Sports Complex just two weeks before, the Big Cat Family made the long journey south on an uncommon Saturday morning ☀️

It was tit for tat for the first 10 minutes, with the visitors taking the early lead through Mairi Forsyth before unfortunately conceding to the formidable hosts almost straight away.

For the next 30 minutes the Shire Quines had the home side pinned in their 22. Consistent pressure eventually lead to tries from Charlotte Bray, Mairi Forsyth and Jen Peace

The home side struggled to deal with the usual frantic offloading style the big cats had been unable to execute effectively in the last fixture. The hard work we have been putting in at training in both attack and defence showing through the fast-flowing rugby 💫

Full back Charné had the game of her life, completely nullifying the home sides exit strategy comfortably fielding the highball in a manner that resulted in creating a huge fan in the crowd 🙋‍♂️

The big cats conceded at the end of the first half but didn't let the heads drop keeping up the sustained pressure to lead to a fairly comfortable half.

Early in the second the visitors opened the flood gates, with tries from Mairi Forsyth a double for Left Winger Mhairi MacPhail and a try for debutant Right Winger Naomi Duncan 💃

Unfortunately, the Big Cat’s then accumulated a high penalty count around the breakdown leading to well deserved tries from the Kelso Squad 🏉
