P6/7 team report: |
Our Match against Gairoch proved to be a real turning point. All the hard work and training producing positive results. The team placed with enthusiasm, tackled extremely well and ran forward at the opposition at every opportunity. All the coaches were very proud of the performance. |
Our front row; Thomas Bain, Thongchai Boyle and Sophie Pirie scrummaged well. Sean Donaldson made a try scoring welcomed return. Ben Crammond performed well in the loose clearing up lots of loose ball. Brian Scott put in his usual solid performance and used his size and strength to drive the opposition off the ball. Kayleigh 'Try and stop me!" Strachan gave the opposition alot of problems...they just didn't know how to stop her! She scored a couple of amazing individual tries by bulldozing through the opposition. Paul 'the pass" Harrow passed very well from the base of the scrum and really helped organise the back line. He attacked the line at every opportunity. |
Our fantastic backs; Craig Wood, Jack Hearns, Yohan McKay, Luke Cullen and Emma Stuart put in an outstanding performance. They organised their defensive and attacking line better than ever before. They also passed well, supported well and played well together. It was fantastic to see them play as a unit and out play their opposition. Paul 'Sheppy"Shepherd made his debut and showed he is a natural winger by putting in a storming run down the left wing to almost score with his first touch of the ball. Jack Hearns ran beautifully with the ball in two hands and brought chaos to the opposition defence. opposition. Sophie Pirie was awarded 'Woman of the the match" as well as scoring a cracker of a try. Alex Robb came along to support the team, it was great to see him there. |

Wintry conditions returned to woodside last Sunday to delay the beginning of our fixture against Mackie but eventually we got down to playing some Tag rugby. Mackie may have scored more tries overall but our handling skills stood out and the Mackie coaches complemented the Shire players on their ball handling skills. Every one played well. Joint Man of the match went to Sheppy and Sean Donaldson. Sheppy put in two fantastic tackles despite never being coached how to! Amazing! Sean Donaldson was a try scoring machine. Special mention to Luke Cullen and Yohan MacKay, they are developing into fine players and their confidence grows with every match. Yohan puts his body on the line in the tackle. Luke organises the back line well by dragging the back line wide to help organise the defence. Great work guys. Thongchai drove well and passed the ball well in contact situations. Emma Stuart put in a committed performance and passed very well. Sophie Pirie scored a well worked try. Alex Robb had his first game and proved himself to have the potential to be a good rugby player. Kayleigh Strachan put in her usual committed performance. Craig Wood played intelligently and showed that he's a much better tackler than his Uncle Bob! |

International Match: |
Scotland v France - This match is fast approaching, we only have 3 Sundays till we're off to Murrayfield. |
For those of you that haven't done so already, could you please confirm that you are able to go. I also need your money as soon as possible. The cost of the ticket is £10. The bus is being provided free by the club, as the result of some great fundraising at the recent Burns Supper. |
The bus will be leaving St Machar Academy at approx 10.30. We will stop off in Dundee for lunch, then head to Murrayfield. On the way back, we'll probably stop off for burgers or similar, and aim to be back in Aberdeen around 9.30. |
