Aberdeenshire Colts - Match Report

U18 Aberdeenshire 55 Ross Sutherland 12 - 1st October 2005

After a very early start for a 1 o,clock kick off the shire lads looked up for the game from the kick off. After some early exchanges good forward pressure released Steven Cook who in his usual style crashed through to get the scoreboard ticking. The message was loud and clear from the coach that they were to try to play an expansive game using the pace of both flying wingers Jamie Stephen and Douglas McLugash. This did not take long to work as Jamie bamboozled his marker then scorched in to score.Ross Sutherland were not making life easy though fighting for every ball ,one turnover resulting in a score in the corner. The big shire pack regained control which resulted in Sipho Moyo crashing through to score.

One thing that was clear was shire were determined to make life hard for themselves letting Ross back into the game again with another score under the posts. Michael McLugash then produced an inspirational kick from midfield which caught everyone unawares(even himself) it held up in the strong wind, he chased through and somehow dotted it down over the line.Individual brilliance or pot luck I don't know!!

This try seemed to finish Ross off .Jamie Stephen carving open their defence to score twice more, then a good break from the back row resulted in Sipho Moyo popping up to captain Steven Cook to cruise over.Special mention must go to Stephen Bremner, Livio Stockli,Mark Littlejohn and Noboru Sato who all helped Ross out as they were a player short.

Man of the Match was Darren McConnach who's tackling and workrate was immense.
