The top of the table clash in Division Four of the National League between Aberdeenshire and Highland beat the atrocious weather after a late inspection.

despite a large covering of water on the pitch, Aberdeenshire took the lead after 10 minutes when their winger Brian Knowles waltzed past the highland defence to go over at the corner for the home side's opening try.

Graham Fergusson was just off target with his touchline conversion attempt.

Both sides were to be congratulated for producing some excellent rugby in very heavy underfoot conditions, and in the 17th minute Highland opened their account when Alistaer Davidson landed a penalty for offshire.

But back came Shire and they too were awarded a penalty which Graham Fergusson conervted with the ball being given a help via the bar.

Highland increased their points total in the 29th minute when they were awarded a penalty for a late tackle and Davidson was on target with his second penalty.

Graham Fergusson then increased the home side's total when he slotted a penalty over which has been awarded for an offside infringement.

However the best move of the match in these horrific conditions came after 36 minutes when winger James Broadribb passed inside to Andy Gilbert who side-stepped his marker to go over for a try which Fergusson coverted.

Just ahead of the half time whistle Graham Fergusson has two further opportunities to increase the home scoreline whith 2 penalties but his first attempt sliced and the second came back off the post.

Half time : 18. 6

The opening exchanges of the second half led to two penalties for Highland, but both attempts by Alastair Davidson were pushed wide of target.

From a tap penalty in the home 22, Highland opened their second half account with a try by Gordon Munro who scored in at the corner but Davidson was off target with his conversion attempt from the touchline.

A good break by scrum half Kielan Adamson helped to increase the home points total with Phil Coombes took the pass to touch down between the posts to give Fergusson an easy conversion.

Continual pressure on the Highland line by Aberdeenshire paid dividends when Eric Strachan scored a push over try for Fergusson to convert and take Aberdeenshire into the top position in Division 4.
