Aberdeenshire RFC was lucky enough to have the legendary full-back and now SRU President Andy Irvine speak at their Annual Dinner on Friday the 27th of April 2007 at the Treetops Hotel.
Andy entertained the 140 plus members, guests and sponsors with his take on Scottish rugby in the professional era with a few gags to boot! The evening was also graced by the voice of former prison Governor Robbie Glen whose quick wit and humorous take on prison life had the crowd rolling in the Iles! The club was also well represented with Compare Mike Munro, club captain Diarmuid O'Sullivan and Graeme Fergusson all entertaining the galleries.
As well as all the entertainment there was the club's annual prizegiving ceremony. A notable mention must go to standing down club coach Colin Bell who was awarded a Club Cap and the Clubman award for his services to the club. It was also a very good night for Martyn Snell who was voted Player of the Year by his fellow players as well as the coaching staff. Not forgetting our U18's who received their winners medals for an undefeated league season.
The whole evening was a great success and long may Aberdeenshire welcome speakers of this calibre and guests alike to our growing annual dinner.
