Aberdeenshire RFC Community Rugby Development Project

The development officer will visit local schools to deliver an introduction to rugby & tag rugby, he will help set up after hours school clubs, lunchtime clubs and take sessions with the Colts Club on a Sunday at Woodside Sports Complex.

He will set up and coordinate two 7 week Tag tournaments in May and August 2003, which all Primary 6&7 and all Secondary S1&S2 children in Aberdeen will be invited to play in.

He will encourage girls aged 16 upwards to join the Women's section of the Club.

The Colts RFC will take a group of Children to see a full international rugby match later in the year.

The development officer will encourage parents to take part in SRU approved coaching courses to increase parental involvement.

The above activities will involve children in a healthy, inexpensive, inclusive, safe and friendly pursuit that will encourage social integration and understanding as well a being a diversion away from criminal & antisocial behaviour.

As well as the above the club will also be involved with Aberdeen city Social Work Department and deliver coordinated sports activities for "looked after children" from March/December 2003, this part time service will obviously compliment many of the same issues.

The objectives and outcomes of this service are in addition to the ones listed, the intention of stating this information is in the interest of openness, clarity and giving the whole picture.
